**CAPE INDEPENDENCE PARTY CLAIMS 2ND CAPE TOWN SEAT AFTER 7 MONTH LEGAL BATTLE**The Cape Independence Party (CAPEXIT) has prevailed claiming its second seat in the City of Cape Town after a 7 month legal battle with the IEC. On Thursday the IEC, certified the updated seat allocation granting CAPEXIT an additional seat after 4 separate recounts of 50 voting districts took place over a period of 6 months. The party had alerted the IEC to numerous instances of suspicious and erroneous "Zero" vote totals in the days following the Local Government Elections which took place on 1st November 2021. The IEC refused to investigate these concerns and the party resorted to several exhaustive Section 65 objections. The party identified 41 voting districts where party agents and numerous members of the public had made sworn statements indicating that they had voted CAPEXIT. In each of those voting districts the Cape Independence Party was awarded "Zero" vote totals. After months of being stonewalled by IEC legal services, the party succeeded in its case at the Electoral Court. Limited recounts accrued over 1300 additional votes to the Cape Independence Party. The inauguration of a second councilor is expected to take place within the next two weeks. *We would like to thank all of our voters and members of the public for coming forward with sworn statements in voting districts where the IEC did not record votes for the party. The exhaustive process of lodging objections with the IEC and the Electoral Court would not have been successful without your efforts* ... See MoreSee Less
